Location: Yorkshire
Langcliffe Hall is a grade II listed Jacobean manor house nestled in the dramatic hills of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Surrounded by formal gardens, wildflower meadows, woodlands, and a productive organic kitchen garden and medicine garden, Langcliffe Hall is unlike any other retreat venue out there. It has a fairytale like quality, with no shortage of trailing roses, and meandering paths (often frequented by the resident geese, ducks and chickens).
The house dates back to 1602 and has remained in Charlotte’s family for over 400 years. Still very much a home, the house is cosy, full of history and authentic charm. Expect big luxurious bedrooms, oak panelled living rooms, wood burning stoves, hot baths and plenty of quiet nooks to sit back with a book or your journal.
Trip Tips
Do
Relax, you have arrived. Start with tea and arrival snacks before a grounding yoga class. You will have some free time to settle in and get your bearings - perhaps a stroll from the house up the hill and around the grounds. There are 400 acres of magical nature to explore here, with no shortage of trailing roses, and meandering paths (often frequented by the resident geese, ducks and chickens). Enjoy a seasonal shared feast for dinner before some soothing Yoga Nidra to float you to bed. Saturday will bring vinyasa yoga, breakfast and then a hike to a waterfall where you can have a wild swim! Please note, the hike is pretty up hill on the way there - alternatively you can drive to the waterfall if you like. After lunch we will be medicine making with Charlotte, learning about the herbs and plants we have access to from the hedgerow, the wild and the beautiful vegetable and flower gardens Charlotte has grown here. You'll learn a little about how to grow them, preserve them and turn them into medicine, and make a herbal infusion and a tincture to take home with you. In the afternoon we'll practice yin yoga, before a dinner feast and campfire. On Sunday there will be vinyasa yoga and meditation, followed by a nutritious, hearty brunch. Then there will be optional sauna and cold water immersion in the spring. All activities are optional but encouraged, so you can nap, read, swim, or enjoy a long bath - it’s completely up to you. The schedule is always weather dependant!
Stay
Langcliffe Hall dates back to 1602 and has remained in Charlotte’s family for over 400 years. Still very much a home, the house is cosy, full of history and authentic charm. Expect luxurious bedrooms, oak panelled living rooms, fireplaces, hot baths and plenty of quiet nooks to sit back with a book or your journal. There is a beautiful, cosy yoga studio separate from the house, overlooking the flower garden, or if it is sunny we will practice some classes outside on the lawn. Langcliffe Hall has a range of accommodation options for you to choose from - some en-suite, some share bathrooms. Please note that there are no showers in the house, but each bathroom has a large bathtub and we allow plenty of time for relaxing baths throughout the weekend.
Eat
We will be nourishing you throughout the weekend with delicious feasts of vegetarian and plant based food and drinks, with plenty of fresh, organic, seasonal produce from the kitchen garden. There will be fruit and a hot drink station for you to help yourself to throughout, with herbal teas, fresh mint, lemon and ginger. We can cater for dietary requirements if you let us know on the booking form beforehand.
