Overview

Join us for a truly restorative 3 night weekend yoga retreat at our incredible, magical forest camp in Somerset, near Bath. This will be our ninth retreat deep in the woods here, and it's a really magical, peaceful and rustic place. Accommodation is a range of hand-built wooden cabins, yurts, cob houses and a shepherds hut. All have logburners inside and individual fire pits outside. Walk through the woods to the botanical lake for a swim or a paddleboard. Sunbathe on the decking surrounded by trees. Have a sauna looking out into the forest. Campwell is a woodland camp around six miles north-east of Bath

Campwell is a woodland camp around six miles north-east of Bath on the Somerset/Wiltshire border, South-West England. It is hidden away down quiet lanes with wild hedgerows. The site is all about low-impact living, from the outdoor kitchen where you can cook over fire, to the eco-friendly toiletries in the compostable loos.

This wild place encourages you to go off-grid, turn off your phone and immerse yourself in nature. Enjoy walks around the woods with views across the green Somerset hills. Read and relax in a hammock. Wander down to the tucked away botanical wild swimming lake, surrounded by beautiful trees. It's a 20 minute walk through the woods and down a hill to the lake, or you can walk along the lane which is slightly quciker.

Trip Tips

Do

Do

Settle in before starting the retreat with tea, cake and our opening circle. Day one is all about grounding and resting, so we will do yin yoga before dinner, Nidra and a good, long rest. Saturday will bring morning yoga and meditation, brunch, a surprise workshop, as well as paddle boarding, SUP yoga and campfires. On Sunday there will be more yoga and meditation, walks and wild swims. The yoga classes are themed around the natural elements, bringing the qualities of nature into your practice and life. All activities are optional but encouraged, so you can nap, read or swim and explore - it’s completely up to you.

Stay

Stay

In a magical woodland village in Somerset. Some of the great things include: a sauna, a roundhouse for yoga with a log burner, a covered outside yoga platform, hammocks, showers with views across the woods, a secret lake for swimming and paddle boarding. Rooms will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis - you can always request which accommodation you would like and we will try to accommodate where possible. There are a range of yurts, wooden cabins, a shepherds hut and even a cob roundhouse, all with their own log burners and private fire pit areas outside. The yurts can be set up for triple occupancy for 3 friends (in a single and double bed), the others are a mix of twins and doubles. All the accommodation share the tree shack showers and compostable toilets and there are more toilets spread around the forest site.

Eat

Eat

All the food on the retreat is prepared by Beth the Free Range Chef, our chief Wild Times chef who is amazing at cooking over fire. It is all nutritious, wholesome and vegetarian. Snacks, drinks and meals are provided. In the morning before yoga hot drinks, fruit, yoghurt and granola will be available, and then there will be a proper hearty brunch available afterwards. For lunch think salads, hearty ribolata soups and bean stews, homemade dips and freshly baked flatbreads. Dinner could be a grounding curry with dhal, chutneys, pickles and naans, delicious pasta or something else that Beth has magicked up. Everything is fresh and seasonal, using interesting ancient grains from Hodmedods, the odd foraged ingredients and lots of produce from local farms and farm shops in Somerset and Wiltshire. (And there's always pudding!) There will always be fruit available, as well as a hot drink station for you to help yourself to throughout, with herbal teas, coffee, fresh mint, lemon and ginger. We can cater for dietary requirements if you let us know at least two weeks beforehand.

FAQs

The Wild Times retreats are for anyone who wants to re-wild and relax. We welcome everyone of any ability - just come with an open heart and mind.

To get the most out of our yoga retreats, we recommend taking part in at least 3/4 yoga classes before joining.

A basic level of fitness and mobility is required - there is quite a steep hill to walk up and down to get to the lake (although you can walk down the lane instead which is much less steep) and the ground at Campwell is uneven.

Not at all! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just finding your sea/yogi legs you are very welcome. We just ask that you can swim 50 metres.

For the watersports: Paddleboards, paddles and buoyancy aids are provided. Please bring your own wetsuit, watersports towel and water shoes.

For the yoga: Yoga mats, bolsters, blankets and blocks are provided. Please bring warm layers and maybe a large scarf for the yin yoga and yoga Nidra classes.

Campwell, Cherry Wood, Oakford Lane, Somerset, SN14 8FE.

The best way to reach the site is either by car or train and taxi. The nearest train station is Bath Spa. From London Paddington the train takes just over 2 hours. (Top tip: if three or more of you are coming on the same train, you can get the ‘group saver’ discount which is a 1⁄3 off each!)

The camp is 25 minutes away from Bath Spa station, so just jump in a taxi to us. We can help coordinate sharing taxis between guests if you are on the same train, and there is space on the booking form to let us know if you would like to lift share with other guests.
