Overview
Gather with us for a 3 night weekend retreat to restore, renew and reconnect at Campwell Farm, just outside of Bath. Nestled along fields of sheep, tranquil woodland and surrounded with long views and big skies, we will bring all the elements of Beth’s cook book. As well as allowing time to rest, we will get creative, go foraging, jump in cold water, for those inclined, and overall embrace the fun and joy of this summer season. Accommodation is a range of hand-built wooden cabins, yurts, and bell tents, all have log-burners inside, very cosy bedding and individual fire pits outside. Try some forest bathing, walk through the fields to the local wild swimming spot and have a sauna looking out into nature. Chat over tea and feasts in the camp kitchen. And then head back out into the rest of the world with a little more calm in your soul and a great big grin on your face. Sign up for the whole weekend or for those looking to dip a toe in to the retreat experience, join us for the day for a selection of activities on the Saturday, perhaps giving you the boost you need to book on to a retreat in the future.

Campwell is a village of canvas and timber hideouts on a 5th generation working sheep farm around 5 miles south-east of Bath
Based on the edge of the village of Winsley, near Bath (UK), this off-grid eco-friendly camp has been organically grown by 5th generation on the farm (Tim) since 2013, who dreamed of a simpler, more natural and adventurous world.
The camp has 2 shingled cabins, a large yurt and 7 bell tents with a number of timber facilities, hosting a wide variety of groups, couples and families. It boasts a fantastic location with so much adventure on the doorstep. The site is all about low-impact living, from the outdoor kitchen where you can cook over fire, to the eco-friendly toiletries in the compostable loos. You can feel world’s away from modern life - this wild place encourages you to go off-grid, turn off your phone and immerse yourself in nature. Enjoy walks around the woods with views across the green Somerset hills. Read and relax in a hammock, soak in a wood-fired sauna, have chats around the campfire, or take a dip in one of the wild swimming spots.
Trip Tips
Do
Settle in before starting the retreat with tea, cake and our opening circle. Day one is all about grounding and resting, so we will do yin yoga before dinner, Nidra and a good, long rest. Saturday will bring out lovely day guests into the fold, starting with a welcome circle for all, and moving into a schedule of workshops and taster sessions through the day, including wild foraging, making your own pasta with homemade pesto, writing workshops and yoga. An abundant lunch will be available, and the opportunity to see Beth working her magic in the kitchen. For those staying for the weekend, Saturday evening will host a celebration dinner with an evening campfire. On Sunday there will be more yoga and meditation, then free time for walks, wild swims, and an afternoon sauna session. The yoga classes are themed around the natural elements, bringing the qualities of nature into your practice and life. All activities are optional but encouraged, so you can nap, read or swim and explore - it’s completely up to you.
Stay
The farm is a village of canvas and timber hideouts on a 5th generation working sheep farm. Some of the great things include: a sauna, a roundhouse for yoga with a log burner, hammocks, hot showers, a woodland to explore, and a sauna on the grounds. Rooms will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis - you can always request which accommodation you would like and we will try to accommodate where possible. There are a range of bell tents, yurts, and wooden cabins, all with their own log burners and private fire pit areas outside. Some are set up for triple occupancy for 3 sharing, the others are a mix of twins and doubles. All the accommodation share the hot showers and compostable toilets and there are more toilets spread around the site.
Eat
All the food on the retreat is prepared by Beth the Free Range Chef, our chief Wild Times chef who is amazing at cooking over fire. It is all nutritious, wholesome and vegetarian. Snacks, drinks and meals are provided. In the morning before yoga hot drinks, fruit, yoghurt and granola will be available, and then there will be a proper hearty brunch available afterwards. For lunch think salads, hearty ribolata soups and bean stews, homemade dips and freshly baked flatbreads. Dinner could be a grounding curry with dhal, chutneys, pickles and naans, delicious pasta or something else that Beth has magicked up. Everything is fresh and seasonal, using interesting ancient grains from Hodmedods, the odd foraged ingredients and lots of produce from local farms and farm shops in Somerset and Wiltshire. (And there's always pudding!) There will always be fruit available, as well as a hot drink station for you to help yourself to throughout, with herbal teas, coffee, fresh mint, lemon and ginger. We can cater for dietary requirements if you let us know at least two weeks beforehand.
FAQs
Who is it for?
The Wild Times retreats are for anyone who wants to re-wild and relax. We welcome everyone of any ability - just come with an open heart and mind.
A basic level of fitness and mobility is required and the ground at Campwell is uneven.
Do I need yoga experience?
Not at all! Whether you practice daily or not at all, you are very welcome.
To get the most out of our yoga retreats, we recommend taking part in at least 3/4 yoga classes before joining, as it will allow you to feel more comfortable and get more out of the experience. We can offer online 1-2-1 classes, or offer suggestions for online videos.
Our approach in class is very much - do what feels best for you in the moment. We offer variations of movement and intensity, and we ask for injuries in the form so we can modify or offer suggestions to best support you.
Do I need equipment?
For the watersports: Paddleboards, paddles and buoyancy aids are provided. Please bring your own wetsuit, watersports towel and water shoes.
For the yoga: Yoga mats, bolsters, blankets and blocks are provided. Please bring warm layers and maybe a large scarf for the yin yoga and yoga Nidra classes.
