Overview

Join us in September for 5 nights of sunshine, yoga, a sunset desert dinner, a mountain hike, artist-led workshops and more – now with the added magic of two beautiful Moroccan locations. We begin with 3 nights at our much-loved retreat hotel, tucked away from the hubbub of Marrakech on the outskirts of a quiet Berber village. Meandering corridors and courtyard paths lead to authentic, comfortable rooms with fireplaces and en-suite bathrooms. We’ll practice yoga on the rooftop or in the light-filled studio twice a day, with time in between to float in the pools, wander the gardens, or relax in hidden sunny corners with a book. The on-site spa offers a range of massages, hammams and treatments for deeper rest. We will visit the Marrakech souks together, before enjoying lunch at Izza, a Michelin Key art & design hotel, followed by a creative workshop with Emily Powell. From there, we will travel to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains at the edge of the National Park for 2 nights at a peaceful new location Kasbah Bab Ourika, overlooking the sweeping Ourika Valley. Here, you’ll find understated luxury - earthy textiles, vintage furniture, and natural materials crafted by local hands. Yoga will continue daily, and our meals - fresh, nourishing and seasonal - are prepared by the Kasbah Kitchen team using produce from the organic gardens and valley. We'll enjoy a guided hike together through the beautiful landscape, getting inspired before our second creative workshop. Included in the week are two adventures and two workshops with Emily: exploring the souks of Marrakech, and a hike and picnic from our Kasbah in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. This new two-venue retreat is a deeper dive into nature, space and stillness - a beautiful way to explore the heart of Morocco while reconnecting to yourself and meeting other wonderful humans.

Jenny Clark

Jenny Clark

Jenny is a yoga teacher, paddle board instructor, writer and Founder of The Wild Times. She has created and held over 80 retreats across the UK and in Morocco, Italy, Sweden and Greece.

Jenny always aims to create a very relaxed, non-judgemental environment on her retreats, where guests can connect to themselves, to others and to nature. She teaches and blends together a range of yoga and meditation styles; vinyasa, mandala vinyasa, yin, yoga Nidra, paddle board yoga.

In her classes you'll find a 'you do you' attitude, a focus on feeling into your body, belly and heart over creating shapes, options for different levels of yogi, a sense of humour and practices themed around the natural elements, with poems and meditations too.

Location: Morocco

Marrakech is a particularly amazing, colourful place

It has everything from fashionista Yves Saint Laurent's beloved gardens to Jemaa el Fnaa, the ancient square that was a trading ground from bedouins from the Sahara desert, to the busy, vibrant souks, peaceful hidden riads and rooftop restaurants.

We will have the luxury of exploring two different retreat venues during our stay. Our first is just 25 minutes away from the hubbub of Marrakech, in a tiny Berber village with views of the Atlas Mountains. The second location is an old traditional Moroccan fortress, an oasis on the edge of the beautiful, rugged Atlas Mountains, just over an hour away from the first location. Transfers will be arranged to transport us from one magical oasis to another.

(I spent the first 7 months of the first lockdown living out in Morocco, and it's a country I love and keep returning to! It is so colourful, beautiful and varied, with over 300 days of sunshine a year. - Jen)

There are direct flights from the UK to Marrakech, and I'd also recommend perhaps staying for a night either side in a riad in the medina to experience a little more of Marrakech if you like! We can give you recommendations of places to stay and things to do once you've booked.

Trip Tips

Do

Do

Settle in and start the retreat with mint tea and a delicious dinner on Saturday. Our first few days are all about grounding and resting, with an adventure into the Atlas Mountains and included beautiful picnic. There is also a trip to the souks for shopping, mint teas on rooftops and exploring the square. There will usually be two yoga classes a day, including dynamic vinyasa in the morning, calming yin before dinner and a couple of restorative yoga nidras (sleepy yoga!) before bed. This is dependant on the other activities we have - on some days if there are trips we might practice once. The yoga sessions are themed around the natural elements, bringing the qualities and strengths of nature into your practice and life. All activities are optional but encouraged, so you can nap, read or swim and explore - it’s completely up to you. The Wild Times is always a guilt-free, judgement free zone - this is your time! Otherwise, have a massage, lounge around the pool or a small siesta...

Stay

Stay

We have the luxury of staying at two beautiful venues over our time together. The first is a haven of peace and quiet that will have you feeling relaxed as soon as you arrive. Set in the tranquility of a Berber Village with a backdrop of the Atlas Mountains and the distant twinkle of the medina, meandering flower-lined paths lead through scented gardens and secret courtyards to exquisite A/C ensuite bedrooms, all beautifully furnished in the local style. The bedrooms are spacious and all have fireplaces, hairdryers, towels, toiletries and dressing gowns. Our second venue is another slice of luxury this time nestled in the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Surrounded by secret gardens and breathtaking views of the mountains, The hotel has two pools (one heated, one refreshing!), beautiful gardens, secret courtyards and rooftops, sunny balconies and more, so you can always find a peaceful spot to relax in. There is a large dining room with a big fireplace, and a large terrace overlooking the pool and the sunset where we will eat most of our meals and often have a pre-dinner sunset drink by the fire watching the sunset. Rooms will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis. They are a mix of twins and doubles.

Eat

Eat

Breakfast includes delicious home-made juices, honey, yoghurts, pancakes, cheeses, locally made breads, fresh fruit salad and cereals will be served after the morning yoga class. Omelettes and eggs are available as an added extra for around £2/3. Then we'll have a healthy and generous salad buffet lunch with around 10 delicious salads to choose from, with bread and fruit available too. Evening meals will be traditional North African dishes created by the resident chef and his team, with vegetarian or vegan options available on request. Tea and coffees are included at meal times, extra drinks and alcoholic drinks are also available to purchase.

Reviews

For me, this retreat was the perfect balance of relaxed personal well-being and exploring the local culture . I absolutely adored the venue . It was so authentically Moroccan whilst being very spacious and comfortable with everything we needed and the most amazing food and wonderful staff. As the retreat leader and yoga teacher, Jenny gave us confidence that everything was well planned but totally unpressurised so it was not intimidating. And although I'm by no means an expert, I enjoyed the yoga on the rooftop every morning - almost as much as lounging by the pool - all with a bunch of friendly & inspiring women of all ages and backgrounds. Thank you so much!!!

Fabulous! This is my 3rd retreat and can highly recommend the Wild Times. The holistic approach and attention to detail, left me feeling grounded, rested and restored, having once again experienced the quiet calming yoga techniques in the charm of the venue, the hustle and bustle of the souks, a hike in the beautiful terrain of the Atlas Mountains, a stunning sunset and a delicious dinner in the desert.
