Yoga, Paddleboarding, walking & exploring:
Wild Times in the Lake District14-17th April 2022
Do
Start your long weekend retreat with an opening circle before dinner and a yoga Nidra session, grounding you and preparing you for a good nights sleep.
Saturday will bring morning meditation, a dynamic vinyasa yoga class and a paddle boarding session on the lake. There will also be a surprise workshop and yin yoga.
On Sunday there will be two more yoga classes and morning meditation. A hearty brunch and a picnic lunch to take with us on our beautiful walk. Relax on Sunday evening by the fire.
Monday morning brings our final vinyasa yoga class and meditation, before a nourishing breakfast and closing circle. All activities are optional but encouraged, so you can nap, read or swim in the lake - it’s completely up to you.
Stay
Our beautiful venue is on the Eastern shores of Coniston Water, with views across to the village and the fells beyond. Enjoy the beautiful gardens or walk along the edge of the lake to swimming access 1km along. The rooms are a mixture of king-size beds, twins and bunk beds. All but one have en-suite shower rooms, and the other one has an adjacent bathroom.
The house was once owned by William Collingwood, who was secretary to the famous artist John Ruskin and a renowned artist in his own right. And Arthur Ransome, a close friend and author of the world-famous Swallows & Amazons book, spent lots of time here and even taught Collingwood's children to sail on the lake.
Eat
We will be joined by our resident Wild Times retreat chef Beth the Free Range Chef. Beth specialises in creating delicious, seasonal meals with local produce.
Expect freshly baked bread and cakes, homemade dips, delicious spiced porridge and vegetable curries, inspired and influenced by cuisines and cultures all across the world.
There will be fruit and a hot drink station for you to help yourself to throughout, with herbal teas, coffee, fresh mint, lemon and ginger. We can cater for dietary requirements if you let us know beforehand.
Location: The Lake District
The Lake District is England’s largest national park and now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, loved by writers, artists and poets throughout time. A mountainous region in Cumbria, North-West England, the Lakes are home to England’s highest mountain (Scafell Pike) and it’s deepest lake (Wast Water).
From our historic house on the edge of Coniston Water, you can walk to the village of Coniston, swim or paddle board on the lake or walk up into the surrounding mountains. There is a lovely hike up to Tarn Hows which is about 1.5/2 hours from the property, and even a secret waterfall there to dip in!
