Breathwork, Yoga, Cold exposure & Hiking retreat for women in the Lake District24-27th February 2023
Do
Our first ever collaborative retreat with both Jen and the brilliant Georgie. As a Master Instructor of the Oxygen Advantage method specialising in female physiology, Georgie puts breath at the centre of everything she does. Specifically, Georgie helps women to self regulate and optimise sports performance around the different phases of the menstrual cycle as well as raising education and awareness of female hormonal superpowers through her recurring Female breathing course with the Oxygen Advantage.
Female-specific breathwork and yoga: There will be four 1-1.5 hour female focused yoga practices, including vinyasa, yin + yoga nidra, with options for all levels of yogi. Daily guided breathwork specifically designed for both menstruating and peri-menopausal women.
Women's Health educational talks: Two talks diving into the topics of how to overcome PMS symptoms, peri-menopausal symptoms through self-regulation and the incredible benefits cold exposure has on female physiology.
Cold exposure experience: Step by step, we’ll take you through an unforgettable cold exposure experience in the heart of nature. There’s so much to learn from the cold - mainly the fact that we’re so much stronger than we give ourselves credit for.
Walking and wild swimming(dipping!): Mountain walks around the beautiful edge of Coniston Water and into the hills. If you would like to relax, read or enjoy the grounds please do. You will leave this retreat knowing that you are stronger and more resilient than you thought, rested and ready for whatever life throws at you and with real, science-backed tools and techniques to help you manage your hormones and better understand your body.
Stay
Our huge, light-filled venue is on the Eastern shores of Coniston Water, with views across to the village and the fells beyond. Enjoy the beautiful gardens or walk along the edge of the lake to swimming access 1km along.
The big high-ceilinged rooms are a mixture of king-size beds, twins and bunk beds. All but one have en-suite shower rooms, and the other one has an adjacent bathroom.
The house was once owned by William Collingwood, who was secretary to the famous artist John Ruskin and a renowned artist in his own right. And Arthur Ransome, a close friend and author of the world-famous Swallows & Amazons book, spent lots of time here and even taught Collingwood's children to sail on the lake!
Coniston is a hidden gem in the Lakes, only 25 minutes from bustling Ambleside but a world away and very peaceful. Across the lake is the small village and a pub on the banks of the water (if you need a warming hot toddy!)
Eat
We will be joined by our resident Wild Times retreat chef Beth the Free Range Chef. Beth specialises in creating delicious, seasonal meals with local produce.
Expect freshly baked bread and cakes, homemade dips, delicious spiced porridge and vegetable curries, inspired and influenced by cuisines and cultures all across the world.
There will be fruit and a hot drink station for you to help yourself to throughout, with herbal teas, coffee, fresh mint, lemon and ginger. We can cater for dietary requirements if you let us know beforehand.
Location: The Lake District
The Lake District is England’s largest national park and now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, loved by writers, artists and poets throughout time. A mountainous region in Cumbria, North-West England, the Lakes are home to England’s highest mountain (Scafell Pike) and it’s deepest lake (Wast Water).
From our historic house on the edge of Coniston Water, you can walk to the village of Coniston, swim in the lake or walk up into the surrounding mountains. There is a lovely hike up to Tarn Hows which is about 1.5/2 hours from the property, and even a secret waterfall there to dip in!
